Adventureland Campground

This is a really nice campground very close to the park with an easy walk across bridge. Quiet and lots of room. No fires on the ground are allowed. Would be perfect for a nite stay while attending adventureland park!

This campground is a mixed bag of some level repaved sites and some nice rigs, but mostly bumpy sites and a LOT of campers falling apart with long term stays. It gives "trailer park" not "campground". We made our teens use a buddy system when leaving the camper because it felt unsafe. The game room has gone way downhill since we were here pre-covid and had a bunch of random items left in it (cans of soup, open bag of cat litter, clothing articles, etc). While we were out for the day, the groundskeeper mowed and blew grass clippings all over our white truck and camper (which stuck). There are also no fire pits, but you can rent an above ground pit for $10/day or bring your own. Much improved from last year. Shower/restrooms now cleaned every morning. Trash and litter picked up. Looks like the new owners are starting to give it a much needed makeover. While alot of the campers appear to be seasonal, we stay here every year for 2 weeks during the Iowa State Fair. It's so convenient and despite its proximity to Adventureland Park and Water Park it's very quiet. Only negative is the entrance road. Very hard to enter the campground if coming from the east on AdventurelandDrive. Crossing Adventureland Drive is a safety dance with oncoming traffic. Need to move the entrance road to be off of Prairie Medows Drive. Would be so much safer. Thanks for the improvements.

I would say location is nice, because it puts you in proximity to a lot of things. Campground amenities for the price, is not reasonable at least when I came a few weeks ago. I understand that the pool would not been filled yet, however, still for the price I was a little letdown. The person in the check-in office was nice, respectful, courteous, and prompt. I also did not like that. They charged five dollars a day for a firing that you have to take to your campsite yourself. Being in the middle of a city, it was still pretty quiet for the most part. However, some other long-term campers put large items near the trash cans, which made it look a little gross. The shower house and restrooms were not clean, barely operational. While it is somewhat hard to find the entrance if you don't know what to look for, it's in a great location! We've had pull through sites and have enjoyed the ease and size of our sites. Water, power and sewer all worked great. T-Mobile internet is stellar. If you are able to stay a week or month the prices are much more affordable than the nightly rates.
