Motel 6 Portland, OR - Gresham

After a nightmare at Wyndham Days inn in Vancouver I found myself driving many miles towards my destination searching for a place to sleep and shower. Crazy prices along the way but the Motel 6 in the Dalles Oregon saved me and surprised me as well. Clean updated facilities and a comfy bed. Reasonably priced with a super courteous desk clerk. Win win for me. Windham was more of a loose-ham. Motel 6 has improved greatly. Still a cheap motel but with a customer centric focus. Did I mention the desk clerk? Great guy.

This is now a homeless shelter. It hasn't been a 6 for a long time.

Room was clean, comfortable, and easy to access. Staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and displayed good customer service skills. Only reason I can't grant a full give stars is the room rates were in my opinion on the high side even after being discounted. All in all, yes, I would happily stay again given the opportunity and need.

We were not happy with our room. Non-smoking room smelled so strong of smoke it was giving me a sore throat and it was very hard to sleep. There were no wash cloths, only towels. No blow dryer, no shampoo. Fortunately I had brought these. The tub faucet could not be turned off all the way. There was a gouge in the toilet seat that pinched. We would not stay at this motel again.

Never in my life have I stayed somewhere that did not supply shampoo and conditioner. The handle fell off the toilet, I couldn't flush the last morning I was there. I also could not shower the last day I was there because I threw my towels on the floor (as instructed in the flyer in my room) but no housekeeping staff came through to replace my towels, make my bed or empty the garbage. This was absolutely was not the experience I was looking for. Due to my experience I will never again stay in another Motel 6 in my life. 'Sketch' was the best word to describe it. When my key didn't work at 11 at night, I went to the front desk. Tried to ring the bell - broken, but for the electrical wire exposed.
