Motel 6 Charlotte, NC – Airport South

To start off with the good: the staff was pretty nice. That is the end of the good. If you, like me, were stranded at the Charlotte airport and thought to yourself “it can’t be worse than sleeping in the airport”. I really think you ought to reconsider. The location is awful, there were a group of homeless people burning trash next to the hotel, the area outside the rooms on the main floor features several folks in the middle of using hard drugs, and there are a preposterous amount of loud cars and loud stereos rolling by all hours of the night. The whole place is filthy, particularly the lobby area and stairs. The room just feels generally unsanitary, to the point I did not take my first opportunity to shower in 3 days, because I felt I would be putting grosser things onto my body. The fa

Positive: There was no smoke detector. There were needles and visible drug use, and homeless people sleeping on and around the property. The door would not lock! I want a complete refund, and it was unsafe, and we could not stay there! Negative: Homeless and drugs use in plain sight. Cops were called out twice in an hour. Very unsafe!

Struggled with how to fairly review this property. Other reviews are correct about people hanging out across the street from the hotel. However, 1. My room was clean with functioning appliances. Walls need paint and bathroom door frame needs repair. 2. Staff was very helpful. 3. For the low price it met the basic need as a bed for a sightseeing base. 4. There are multiple restaurants and convenience stores within walking distance. 5. It a 10 minute walk to the light rail. 6. Although there were homeless people in the area, hotel is near a busy roadway where a lot of people were safely dining / getting gas. It's worth staying there if you want convenience; don't mind the property being run down; and have street sense.

I can’t describe the smell in this hotel!! It’s filthy and it should be against the law that they are able to take your money and tell you your booking is non refundable…. What!!!?? The location is not safe! The room smells like smoke, updated rooms looks nice but I can’t get past the smells. It’s like spraying perfume over funk. There are drug ******* hanging all over this hotel, customer service is very very poor and watch how they leave a reply under this review as if they have taken care of the situations! They should be ashamed of this establishment. They should be locked up for false advertisement and Highway robbery!!!

The room was nasty, and I was given a downgrade from what I reserved and paid for. Could not get the room I reserved as it was given to someone else. Was not offered the lesser price for the lesser room. Holes in the wall. Huge splotches and black spots all over the sheets. Parts of the wall hanging off. This place should be condemned or at least given to the homeless camp across the road. Deplorable!
