Martin Hill Inn

We had a lovely stay at the Martin Hill Inn. We were in Dashing Wave, which was on the 2nd floor of the Guest House. The room was tidy and had up to date amenities. The only downside is despite the comfortable bed, the pillows were oddly lumpy in the middle which were unable to be fluffed during our time there. As others have said, the walls are thin and the stairs were quite steep, but it reflects the historical ambiance of the inn. It was easy to navigate the property, as there were various signs telling where each house and room is situated. Even in the winter, the garden was well-maintained and the path was clear to the private parking lot. This is definitely a hidden gem in downtown Portsmouth and I would come back to stay again.

Wonderful location! Close to restaurants and shopping. We stayed three nights in December with snow on last day. All walks were cleared promptly. We want to come back to enjoy the landscaping in back yard. It was still beautiful in the snow! Loved our room! And the on-site parking was great.

Such a great stay at Martin Hill Inn! The rooms are adorable, spacious and clean. The location is also great, just a 10 min walk to downtown. The hotel manager was very accommodating with check in/out times. Would definitely stay here again in the future.

The Martin Hill Inn was a great place for short solo-trip as a young female. It was clean, easy to get into, I felt safe, and the property was vert responsive. Excellent hospitality. My favorite part was they had the "good ice" available for residents & the bathrobes were a great "luxury:" touch. I had to message the property for 1 request via text and they responded within 5 minutes, and happily fulfilled my request. The only feedback I have is that finding the parking lot in the dark was a bit difficult, only because the sign is not well lit and a bit hard to spot. Other than that, great stay.

Stayed for a quick getaway and loved it! The inn is perfectly located. It's an easy 10-15 min walk to the main drag with plenty of restaurants, shops, and coffee spots. The Typhoon room was spotless and beautifully decorated with thoughtful, cozy touches. We did have a minor hiccup with the door passcode when we arrived, but one quick phone call and it was resolved. Overall a wonderful stay, and we would happily stay here again!
