Marea Sol Hotel

This hotel is a prime location that is hard to beat. Literally a few steps away from the beach. Look at their website for the explanation of room types and views. We splurged on the Luxury type to have a beach facing room, with a balcony, and it was worth it for our special occasion. However, any of the balcony rooms looked fine. Sitting on the balcony, sipping coffee in the morning was perfect. The space was very clean, well furnished and decorated, and the bed was very comfortable. They also have an outdoor shower for removing sand, which is great. This hotel also has a coffee shop located within the hotel, which was a nice bonus. We definitely enjoyed our stay! Only thing to consider for your stay is that parking is $25 a night (as of 2026) and the lot is very tight and only one car

I highly recommend this hotel!!! The genuine friendliness and the extraordinary service was above & beyond. I truly appreciate the manager Miss Katrina. I was there to move my daughter in to college. She is a freshman at UC Santa Cruz. Leaving my baby was very hard, and I was in complete shambles. Katrina was very attentive and made sure my time spent at the hotel was a safe & comfort zone for me. So, EVERYTIME I visit Santa Cruz I will be staying here. This hotel is definitely ran by ppl who care about their patrons.

Visited my daughter with my 84 year old mom that is handicapped. They have 2 handicapped parking spots downstairs. Problem is that they block off one spot for their manager to park. They don't have a placard, they claim she's handicapped but I wouldn't know because staff lied to me several times, one would say she'll be here tomorrow morning, then in the morning oh she's gone for the next few days. When we asked about what was going on an employee actually said to me "I don't know why you're talking to me I just work here" I was shocked by the total indifference to guests concerns. The employee that said that to me would not longer have a job if I was owner. Great location. Great house keeping. Terrible front desk staff. Also I'm paying 25 dollars a night to park and my mom still doesn't h

The moment we checked in it was like meeting old friends again. Katrina effortlessly got us settled in a room after our arrival. The ocean front king room offered a great view of the beach, ocean and pier. We even got to see the holiday train from the room balcony! The room was clean, well done and had everything we needed. Being on the frontage road there was some street noise but that was expected for a Saturday night. The roof top deck was a nice addition outdoor space to relax. After we checked out we were even allowed to store our luggage for a bit while we enjoyed lunch prior to departure. Based on our experience we would stay again, thanks again
