MainStay Suites Springfield IL

This is by far the worst hotel experience I've ever had. We paid for 6 days and only got 5 days here. Roaches, rude service, and homeless people barging into my room. My girlfriend had a mental health crisis and I we didn't get to clean the room because we went to the hospital. I was only gone for a day and when I returned they said we have to leave by 11 or they will call the police. We also had a homeless man push past my door, into my room who wanted to extort our room for illegal activities. We got that figured out on our own because I asked the desk lady who this strange man is and she says she doesn't know, and that she refuses to extend our stay because of all the commotion. I checked in and went to my room and there was no cable box for my TV, so I had no TV to watch. I told him at the front desk and they said they would send the maintenance man down. I waited and waited and waited never heard from them again. So I went down to the front desk once more and ask about it. That was about 2:45 PM. He said the maintenance man was on his way, but if he wasn’t here by 3 o’clock, they would move me to another room. I’ll by then I had already waited almost 30 min. Nobody showed up. Nobody moved me to another room. 3:00 passed, 3:30 passed and it was coming on 4 o’clock. I finally told him I wanted to check out and just go to another hotel. That’s when they moved me to another room. That was totally unacceptable. Horrible customer service. I love staying in Choice hote

One star is too kind.||I booked my stay at this hotel from August 1 to August 3, relying on my positive experience from a previous visit. Unfortunately, my recent stay was disappointing due to several ongoing issues. Upon arrival, we had to wait an extra 30 minutes to check in, the elevator was out of service, and the pool was closed. (Despite what the hotel says, at no point did they inform us that the pool & elevator were out of commission.) We specifically chose this hotel due to the false advertising for the pool, as we were counting on it for entertaining five children for a weekend. Talk about some disappointment. I noticed a review from two months ago pointed out a NOW OPEN sign (it's still there as of today). We walked into the lobby and it smelled of marijuana (I know it's legal now, but really?). We got to the front desk and when I gave my name, they found my reservation and said the room I reserved was unavailable and there were no available rooms that matched my original reservation. The receptionist said a suite was available, but was available for almost twice as much as my original confirmed reservation. While all this was occurring, another customer came up, and he quickly went to resolve their problem. We stayed here a few nights ago in a kitchenette room. There was a dead roach in our shower and traps behind the toilet. There was dirt and stains on the blankets as well as on the curtain from previous guests. Our blinds on the window were broken as well as a rip in the carpet. The toilet basically screamed at us everytime we flushed it. The shower curtain rod was broken and didnt like to allow the curtain to stay closed the whole way. You could smell cigarette smoke in the hallways, despite them being "Non Smoking". The TV Remote had no batteries so we got some from the front desk, just to realize it didnt work the TV at all and was stuck on one channel. The second TV remote was functionable with YouTube, but didnt control the TV's volume or change the channel. The burner in our room req
