Lobos Lodge

This is a well located hotel, equally easy to walk to the beach or into town; big room (we stayed in #16 and #18); and friendly staff. ||But I’m really posting this review because we inadvertently left something valuable behind and the manager actually tracked us down to return it to us! The housekeeping staff (Catalina) immediately turned it into the office when she found it and the manager arranged to send it to us. It was not just honest, but it was thoughtful and caring and speaks volumes about their integrity and how they care for their guests.

Busy location on the Ocean strip but perfect for walking the area. Be forewarned...this part of Carmel is very hilly so if you have mobility issues you may struggle. Parking and traffic is hectic, of course weekends are worse. It's a gorgeous spot though. Hotel staff were exceptional. Room was super clean, roomy with a fireplace and private patio. I was in an intermediate king. Free continental breakfast was delivered daily...very nice touch. Excellent Foglifter coffee too. Comfy bed, fresh smelling linens and a tub so clean, I'd soak in it. All of Carmel is pricey but I feel like this place was worth the price. Grounds nicely kept. If you have time, put away your phone and go find a little shop called "The Pleasure of Writing". We had a wonderful stay at the Lobos Lodge! The location was perfect to enjoy the downtown area, close to the beach, and the 17 mile drive! Parking in the lot was very convenient, especially with the busy downtown area. The bed was so comfortable and the room was very clean! Would highly recommend!

A wonderful stay. The room was large and very comfortable. When I got home I realized I was missing my sandals. I called three times and each time was told they would ask housekeeping and get back to me. They never did. Then I called and got Ericka. She apologized the others didn’t get back to me and said she would check for my sandals. She called back within 5 minutes and said she found them. Ericka took my information and said the sandals would be shipped to me today or tomorrow. Ericka is a fabulous employee!! She was very kind and helpful. She is an employee I would have wanted when I had my own business. I am now retired. I will stay at Lobos Lodge again because of Ericka.

We have stayed here many times over the last 20 + years, and enjoy the warmth and homeyness. The staff is very friendly, and the location is our favorite in town. We like opening the windows for a cool ocean breeze, and also the coziness of the fireplace. We got a King Suite this time, and the bed was very comfortable and the sheets very crisp. They bring a continental breakfast each morning, which is simple, but a nice offering to accompany your coffee or tea (made in-room).|Tip: The iconic "Carmel Beach" is a short (steep) walk from the hotel. Be prepared to climb that hill back up, but it is well worth the trip!
