Carmel Mission Inn

I absolutely LOVED my stay at the Carmel Mission Inn! I grew up in the Monterey area, and my family still lives there. I booked the family suite for my niece's third birthday - it was raining LOTS during the week I was visiting - and a comfy, nice hotel room where everyone could be together and celebrate was exactly what we needed (and what she wanted!) in order for her to have a great birthday. I'd like to extend a special thanks to Mary - who ensured I was able to check into the room as soon as possible, and provided excellent customer service. I will definitely be recommending this hotel to anyone who is visiting the area! Looking forward to being able to stay for longer my next time in town.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Hadn't been here since 2018 and apparently ownership changed and the hotel, rooms and restaurant were all updated, very nicely! We had a poolside room with a patio. The room was large with a sofa. The bed was comfy, we slept well. Robes and slippers were a nice addition. One thing, if you like TV bring your streaming stick. The channel selection is garbage and you can't cast. Be sure not to miss the Dog Bar on Tuesday evenings. So fun with plenty of happy dogs, good food and the singer they had was very good. Positive: Location quiet not like Carmel by Sea town with 2 quiet malls next door and across st with everything. Negative: The sneaky way $44.+ per day was added on for parking! YOU had no mention and if we knew would NOT have stated there. Would have been cheaper to rent our own little house and we could cook in some.

Charming low priced Inn. Wonderfully renovated in a sixties retro vibe. Great lighting and grounds. Beds are comfortable and rooms come with some thoughtful amenities. Yes they charge $30 bucks for parking. Yes that blows, but that's late stage capitalism for you. It is stated on their website but of course you missed that because it wasn't included when you received your "all in" tax included quote. Don't book with a third party and you'll save about $30 bucks Which you'll then give back for parking. And to The lovely Carmel Mission Mgmnt "everybody's doing it" isn't a great justification. Tried to book on Hotel Tonight, great teaser rate until you factor in the hidden fees. Started to complete the reservation but thankfully looked at the reviews, first. Note the hidden fees for parking of $30 plus tax per night and the resort fee. Come on - include it in the room rate like everyone else so we can make an informed choice. I'm voting with my wallet and choosing elsewhere - there are plenty of choices.
