Carmel Resort Inn

My wife and I received a weekend getaway here as a gift from our daughter. We’ve stayed here before and enjoyed our time, though this visit was our first stay in a cabin closer to the main road. The cabins themselves are simple and comfortable—very much a basics-only setup—but well suited for a Carmel getaway. Being closer to the street did result in noticeable traffic noise, which was a downside for us. On a previous visit, we stayed in a cabin set farther back from the main road and found it significantly quieter. If you’re sensitive to noise, I’d recommend requesting one of those interior cabins. That said, the location is a definite plus. Being in Carmel makes this an easy and pleasant base for exploring the area.

The Shower wall was falling apart. Walls were super thin, could hear neighbors all night. Dirt under sinks. Tv was great.

Positive: I have stayed at this hotel several times in the past and it looks it has been sold to a different person. Negative: There was no power or hot water, so we slept there because we had no choice. The customer service person was horrible; they didn't accommodate our stay. It was cancelled on the spot, and we ended up in a cold and dark room.

The bed was horrible. Springs or whatever it's made of poked me all night. It felt like a bar. I kept trying to find different positions and spots on the bed. The fridge and heater both made noise all night. I could have tolerated it had the bed been comfortable. The room itself was charming. Low rating due the bed. One of the most important part.

This was a great little place to celebrate our anniversary. Close to town, close to plenty of cute houses to see and just wander around with coffee in the morning. Its an older cottage but had everything we needed. We used the fire pit a few times and the guy at the front desk was always quick to help us out and turn on the propane for us. We went in June and while the weather was overcast it was still the best time. We'll definitely be back! Carmel is the perfect spot for traveling to Big Sur and traveling around the coast, central location with lots of history!
