Liberty Hotel, an Ascend Collection Hotel

+The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. Beautiful old building. Too cold to use the pool, but it looked clean and well taken care of. -The curtains, also used as black-out blinds, had no way to rise, except folding/rolling up to the window ledge. The breakfast was AWEFUL. The place needs $ for a complete renewal, which we were told, they are working on. I hope they follow through because the bones of the building are amazing.

This is my third visit to the Liberty. I absolutely love it there. I require an accessible room and the one on the third floor had all I physically require, a clean room that’s large enough to maneuver my mobility scooter, a low bed, high toilet with safety rails, and seat for the shower and a hand held faucet. I think it’s a beautiful hotel and we always feel welcome and cared for. Is there room for improvement…..absolutely, however I enjoy it every time I visit. It’s been a perfect place for three “girl’s trip” for us and we’ll certainly be back again. It’s very close (walking distance) to the community theater and to several boutiques and restaurants.

Positive: Beautiful old building, restored and preserved in the style it was first built in 1924. hotel employee waited on us at check-in and was there everytime we went through the Lobby, asking if we needed anything! She was awesome! Negative: Rooms had no HDMI plugs anywhere. We had to go purchase wall plugs to charge our stuff.

The staff at this beautiful hotel is great! The rooms are charming. The only major issue is the climate control works on a water system that is out of control. The 2 different rooms are consistently too warm. I literally couldn't wear pants in my room regardless of the 75 degrees during our first night or the 40 degrees during our last night. Since the windows do not open, there is no relief. Also, the supplier of the breakfast food is too lazy. Since there were no recent deliveries, several ingredients were missing including fried eggs. Again, THE STAFF IS GREAT AT THIS BEAUTIFUL HOTEL. ;^)

We love this hotel for the history and charm of days gone by. Beautifully decorated but loosing the little details that make it top-notch. All different brands of shampoo, conditioner, lotion and soap. Looked cheap for such a beautiful location. It could use a refresh in the paint department. The walls were scuffed and stained in areas. Small details but it's the details that make a person want to return (or not). The young man at the front desk at check in was very helpful and did his job well. Had to wait for coffee to be made in the morning as there was none when needed. Overall, this is a lovely hotel that just needs some minor TLC to make it great.
