La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Salt Lake City - Layton

I’ve stayed here a couple times before and always loved it until this trip. If I’m being fair I would have given this hotel 4 stars every other time but this time they were far from it. I’m not exactly sure what changed but something definitely did. The A/C in our room “barely worked” it was on and set as low as I could get it but our room never made it lower than 75 degrees. The shower was the next problem, the drain plug was barely cracked and even after trying for a few minutes I couldn’t get it to budge so the water just filled the tub. Speaking of the tub the handle to change the water flow for the shower head to the faucet was just gone so even if we wanted to take a bath it wasn’t gonna happen. The tv is next on the list. Positive: How big the room was Negative: Place is a dump. Room smelt like cat pee. Pool was flooded. Room was run down. Finish work was bad.

Internet access was down for over a week and when it came back it was very slow. No HD streaming on this hotel's WiFi. The property is older and in need of significant TLC. All but 2 staff members were courteous and helpful. The breakfast "buffet" was acceptable with obvious efforts by the staff to make it better. The rooms were fairly clean but had minor annoying problems which maintenance staff attempted to remedy with limited success. Watching TV was difficult due to numerous digital translation/ reception issues especially on non local channels. Significant 24 hour traffic noise due to immediate proximity to Interstate 15

DO NOT STAY HERE They have the least comfortable beds I've ever had the misfortune to sleep on. I've gotten better rest in the woods sleeping on sticks and rocks and dirt. The wifi doesn't work even a little bit (not even my email would load). The hot tub was out of order. The sink drain stopper is supposed to have a pull rod to push the drain back open, but it looks like they changed the faucet to one that isn't compatible with that, so i had to pry the drain stopper up with a knife just to wash my hands. The shower is really low so it hit me in the middle of my torso (I'm 6'1", not some basketball player). You have to request that they clean your room if you're staying, they don't do it automatically. Every outlet in the room was so loose i couldn't get my phone charger to work, and it'

The hotel itself was a little sketch and the rooms were okay. Aside from that, the front desk receptionist Tammy had such phenomenal customer service as she was happy to be of service and get us into our room. She also did a great job making us feel like we weren’t bothering her whenever we needed something.
