Knotty Pine Motel

The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Check-in process was friendly and easy. One reason we chose this hotel over others was the free breakfast. However, upon check in, we were told the breakfast was brown bag style. We were each handed a bag with a granola bar, an apple juice and a fruit cup. In the morning, we found there was no spoon included for the fruit cup. While there was coffee in the room, there was no cream (powdered or otherwise) or sugar. Also, the tv had such fuzzy reception that it was unwatchable. I would try a different hotel next time we go through Bennington. *The sushi restaurant next door, Fuji, was delicious and affordable!

We stayed at Knotty Pine at the end of August when moving our recent HS grad to college in Bennington. The motel was clean and comfortable, staff were friendly, and we overall really enjoyed our stay. This place has a nostalgic charm to it while still providing modern conveniences like in-room coffee makers and cable TV. We wish we could have tried out the pool (weather did not allow) as it was beautiful and clean. Staff was friendly, local food and other options are nicely provided in a reference binder, and just in general the place has wonderful vibes. If you're young, fit, have no allergies, and want to stay in an authentic 50's era motel with few upgrades, I'm sure it's fine. But we had to buy an air filter to survive the room, and the hot water tap burned my hand. Rooms were musty--really musty and smelled of mildew. I have asthma, and the room triggered it. After the first night, I asked the staff where I could buy an air filter--she was new to the area and had no idea about the town. (It's a little disconcerting when the desk person pleads with you to tell her what to do.) So we bought a $160 air filter to enable me to stay in the room. There is NO CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST. They haven't "got to changing it "online...came in at 1230am from driving over 24 hours on the road. Placed in dirty room, leaving us to sleep on someone's dirty sheets, i had to clean the tub myself bc of all the hair. Then the second room was very moldy. Both rooms very dusty, spiders and their webs. My husband offered more money to put us in a better room, they insisted they were "full" even though it wasn't. They gave us expired by 21 day, yogurts and spoiled half & half (by 2 months) for for our "grab bag". The innkeeper also deleted her messages, she didnt stick to the price she originally agreed with my husband. She was rude and smug and very proud of the fact they are a"cheap" motel. The housekeeping person entered our room without our permission while we were not there. We had things out that other people do not need to see and he just used his master key to get in. The "Yes please" sign that you would put up if you wanted your room cleaned was not up and he just went in. We found a few things in places they shouldnt be. Dont come here unless you want a creep going into your room without your permission.
