This is a beautiful building with beautiful views located in very safe and fun part if downtown Birmingham adjacent to very walkable Morris Avenue. The John Hand club is fantastic. Great place to visit and see friends.
Even better than we expected! Really clean suite in a beautifully restored 1912 building. Fantastic views of Red Mountain from the shared balcony. Good bed. Walked to every site we were there to see. 24 hour access to the shared kitchen (can you say "coffee whenever you want"?) and dining area. Several restaurants and coffee shops within two or three blocks. Parking garage across the street. This will be our go-to when we travel to Birmingham.
I’ve stayed in some questionable motels before, but nothing prepared me for this nightmare. The John Hand Club markets itself like a quirky boutique hotel — do not be fooled. The moment I checked in, the front desk staff acted like I was interrupting their day. No greeting, no smile, just a key card slapped on the counter. The decor looks like it was designed by someone who lost a fight with the thrift through dumpster. The hallway carpets smelled like mildew, and my room looked like it hadn’t been cleaned since last century. Stains on the sheets, hair in the shower drain, and a mysterious sticky patch on the nightstand — absolutely disgusting. When I called to ask for fresh linens, I was told “housekeeping already went home” and offered a single towel as a solution. The bar blasted musi
Located in the sketchiest part of Birmingham. Extremely rude service. Private balcony shared with the entire floor. If you’re looking for a romantic evening be sure to do it with your clothes on. It’s basically a fishbowl. They should be ashamed of their policies. I stayed about an hour before I figured out this place was nasty. Then they refused to give me my money back.
A really nice room, great space, and comfy bedding. Rare self-parking in a downtown core. Access to a decent enough gym and a cool cocktail lounge. It's a unique set up that it's seemingly a floor of an otherwise office building - so there is no hotel restaurant. There's a little coffee set up in a central lounge. I'd recommend for a local-type experience that veers from the standard hotel fare, well-rewarded with a good accommodations.
