James Station | Stay Different

A very enjoyable stay. We very very comfortable and enjoyed the view and all the activity. We had deer and a ground hog stop for a visit. The weather did not cooperate. It was very cold. Snow and ice piled up on all the streets made it difficult to navigate. We are already planning on going back when the weather improves. We highly recommend staying in the caboose!

We absolutely loved our stay at James Station. Lynchburg is a city worth exploring with an abundance of things to do, eat, entertain, etc. It is clean, friendly, and great for families with young kids. Our check in was super smooth and the Caboose had very comfy furnishings that met our needs as a family of 3, traveling with our 8 year old. Do be mindful of the noise caveat mentioned in the listing. This is a great stay on the weekends, but the factory that shares the property line is up and running 24 hours a day Monday through Friday and can be a bit much to deal with. Luckily, Amy left us a noise machine and ear plugs to offset this *almost perfect* stay and our son absolutely loved this experience and wants to come back, soon. What an amazing experience!! It's truly a unique stay, with everything you could need! Our girls had a blast (make sure if you have kids you get the add on for kids!). Our girls loved dressing up as train conductors and exploring everything about it, the hammock chairs were a big hit! And that view cannot be beat!! The peacefulness and just eating breakfast on the patio with that view was everything. Thanks for a wonderful experience.

It was a beautiful, cool place. We were surprised how roomy it was as a former caboose. Lots of original wood, hardware, and cabinets. The train-themed books for kids and adults were a lovely touch. Unfortunately, the rain kept us from having a fire in the pit overlooking Scott's Mill Dam. And the proximity to U.S. Pipe made for a less than restful night, but the complementary ear plugs and white-noise machine were a lovely touch.

Amy offered to let us stay a second night; we wish we could have! This is one of the coolest places we've stayed in our travels. The caboose didn't disappoint and will make for some interesting stories. We hope to return because this location was a lot of fun, and Lynchburg is a great place to hang out for a few days!
