Island Hotel & Restaurant

Easy four for casual fancy-ish fare but very slow. Our experience was enjoyable enough ...though unhurried to a fault. And while our server seemed really very nice, she just wasn't attentive. We saw her only a few times so that means no water refills, no continued drink orders, and no follow up. Even had to chase the check after giving up on waiting for her to order dessert. I especially resent that when the expected gratuity's over $20. We were there far too long, nearly two hours, and while they're also a hotel, we didn't want to make a night of it. And maybe that's the thing, if you're staying here, maybe you do. So, despite an uncomfortably long dinner, the food was pretty good. We enjoyed the snails and were impressed with the fish in paper. I did think it was a bit odd the waitress

On the positive the server was very pleasant and I believe she tried to do a good. The dish ordered had good flavor I got the black Bayou shrimp and grits. ||But then shrimp was over cooked to the point it was hard leathery. I did eat four out of the six before the waitress checked on us. So that’s on me. My got a seafood pasta and asked for no capers which came on her meal anyway. She tried to eat it but ended up picking the seafood out. ||Waitress told the manager and apologized. They gave us one free desert. Overall for a meal that was close to 100.00 it was very disappointing I love Cedar Key but i won’t ever come back to this restaurant.

Room was clean, staff is very friendly. The hotel is for sure haunted. The room I was in specifically, they (staff and bartenders) alleged our room was believed to have the portal used by the spirits of the hotel. They also have a notebook next to your bed that details the history and hauntings of the hotel. It is a very very old building. But sheets, towels, and service is great! The bar on site is GREAT! The restaurant is Phenomenal! Eat at both! You won’t be disappointed! We only didn’t stay here on our next visit to Cedar Key because I wanted less ghost related stuff/activity this time around.

Waited awhile for a server. Felt rushed and unwelcome due to having our toddler with us. Was greeted with ‘are you ready to order’. Upon waiting to pay the same server greeted another table with her name, asked about drinks, shared the fish of the day and soup of the day and was overly friendly but barley wanted to share any of that with us. The pasta I ordered was terrible and I requested no mushroom and it still had mushroom. They replaced with the citrus chicken and it was bland as well and we had to take it to go due to the long wait. My husband’s fish was okay but not worth the price. We spent around 90 for crappy food and crappy service. This was our last vacation before a new baby and this dinner was the worst part of our trip. I would have rather spent our money elsewhere.

Beautiful antiques and restful rooms. The upstairs porch is a great place to relax and watch the town. There are no TVs, which I consider a plus. On the negative side it is definitely NOT handicapped accessible. Someone on staff quite rude with us and I never received a response to my direct complaint. I had enjoyed many previous stays, but will stay elsewhere from now on.
