Hyatt Place Austin / Lake Travis / Four Points

This was one of my best stays with Hyatt. The location was great and the property looked good inside and out. The reception experience stood out the most. We arrived a little after 3pm and the front desk staff, a tall Black guy, was very courteous and friendly. Check in was quick and smooth. He even gave me two extra physical keys aside from the mobile key.||||The room was clean and spacious with the usual Hyatt Place layout I’m used to. The bathroom was clean, the water pressure was strong, and the hot water was consistent. Breakfast had plenty of options and everything was available, including a waffle maker. I was also able to get my bottled water benefit as a Hyatt Explorist member.||||They approved my late checkout request with no issue. Complimentary parking was a nice plus. Checkout

I checked in with my service dog and informed the front desk agent at arrival. I was told it would not be a problem. However, when I received my bill, I noticed I had been charged a pet fee. I called to have the charge corrected and again explained that my dog is a service animal, as disclosed at check-in. I was then told she was not a service dog but an ESA. When I asked what that determination was based on, I was told it was based on how she “looks”—not her behavior. The hotel then requested documentation to prove she is a service dog in order to reverse the charge, which is against the law. I frequently stay at Hyatt properties, but due to this experience, I will not stay at this location again.

Positive: The hotel is very clean and every staff member I encountered was nice and helpful. Negative: The first night we could hear traffic on 360 but the sound machine helped with that. Our door unlock button was missing but still worked so that didn't hinder us in any way.

I was attending a performance at Riverbend Church Centre. Since it was late in the evening I opted to stay at a hotel rather than drive the distance home.|The price could not be beat, so that made me happy, in addition to free parking. But it wasn't a cheap room. So many hotel rooms are freezing when I walk in. Being cold outside it was welcoming to walk into a comfortably warm room. |The bathroom and room were clean. The bed comfortable, the shower was great. The towels were just right thickness; not too thick, not too thin.|The breakfast had the usual cast of characters, except the scrambled eggs were quite good, served alongside hash browns (although I do like my hash browns a bit crispier), and sausage. Really liked the quiet stay here at the Lake Travis location! The area is nice with an HEB directly across the way, and choices to dine within proximity! Prepare for most eateries to close around 9-10pm. Breakfast is nice with options, especially the TEXAS shaped waffle maker! The room was located in a quiet area of building, however, I apologize that I have to mention, as room felt I needed to definitely retouch with a cleaning! It's strange to find hair left behind in bathroom and shower! Perhaps the floor may or may not have been mopped, but nevertheless, my stay was short!
