Howard Johnson by Wyndham Mystic

The hotel could use some improvements for sure. Honestly it's not bad. The room I stayed in had a jacuzzi shower combo. The faucet for the bath doesnt completely close when showering, and the top of the shower unit was a little off. The room is comfortable and smelt neutral/clean. The room is spacious and the balcony is a nice touch. The pool area is warm and the pool was clean. Halways to the rooms were also very clean. Guest services was fantastic and friendly. The price is fair, and location is awesome. Again, it could use some preventive maintenance as there is rust on the fire exit from the pool, but ive stayed in way worse. It's a good hotel thats good for the money. Not a 4 star hotel, just a good hotel.

In the past we had stayed at this hotel several times due to its convenient location in Mystic, super close to the aquarium. We booked with confidence, expecting to have the same good experience we had before. Boy, were we wrong. First, we arrived around 7pm and there was no one in the front desk, just a handwritten note asking to call a phone number to check in. While we were doing that a man came from the office to check us in. He asked for ID and then forgot to give it back. My husband had to request for his drivers license back. Once in the room on the second floor, we were unable to take our coats off because the heat was not on and the room was freezing. The temperature outside was around 20 degrees and not better inside the room. We turned the heat on and had to wait approximately a

Positive: Convenient on/off the highway. Negative: This hotel was not clean or well maintained. Carpeting in both public and private areas was filthy. Thankfully given a late arrival the sheets were clean and appeared free of bed bugs.

My family and I had stayed here years ago and had a satisfactory experience. This time I could tell that the only money spent on the place was in the lobby. Rest of the place was dilapidated and after inspecting the room, we decided not to stay because there was a giant stain on the mattress cover it looks like dried blood. I had gone off of past experience and the fact that using booking in the past, I’ve never had a bad experience. This has tainted my experience with booking as well. Because in the end, I think I was refunded $25 of my night stay. And had to go find accommodations elsewhere. I find it hard to believe that the ratings of this hotel are true ratings. The gentleman knew that we were not going to stay in his hotel as soon as we asked to see the room. 4.3 rating is way too

Pool was horrible. There's was a a lot of chlorine, made my kids eye burn & both my kids were coughing. The reason we came here was for the pool. The lounge chairs are broken & dirty.None of the electric ports in the room work. The entrance feels like an ice box. Bathroom was disgusting. Front staff was awesome though. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Very disappointing
