Homewood Suites by Hilton Charleston - Mt. Pleasant

Great location near Charleston, historical Mount Pleasant and the beach in Isle of Palms. Everything is walking distance from this hotel. Hotel might get worn out eventually but is well maintained…looks like they were working one room at a time with painting, carpeting, and new furniture from what we saw spending a week here. Nice shops and services nearby.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite, 426. Overall room was clean and comfortable. Light bulb in one bathroom was burned out and was promptly replaced. As soon as we arrived in the room we turned the ice maker on. After several hours it never made ice. Went to lobby to report and was told ice makers were slow. They provided a bucket of ice which lasted the rest of our stay. When we checked out after 2 nights, still no ice. We reported when we checked out. ||We have stayed at a Homewood Suites in the Lehigh Valley in PA several. When planning this trip those stays heavily influenced out choice here. Breakfast at the Mount Pleasant was nowhere as good as the one in PA. We ate around 8AM on both mornings so not near the end of breakfast time. Cold eggs, hard biscuits, little in regard to fruit.

Positive: Suite had everything we needed. Negative: Breakfast was bland but we realize you may have to season things on your own because you're trying to meet all health issues.

Televisions went blank halfway through the Rose Bowl between Indiana and Alabama football teams. I graduated from Bloomington High School (South) and studied at Indiana University. So, I'm pissed about missing the second half of the Rose Bowl. My wife asked for a $75 refund for our pet fee as compensation. The hotel manager refused to do that, and now I see actually charged $90 for our cute little dog ($75 is the rate online when booking). There's never any trace our dog stayed at a hotel. Also, since the last time we stayed at this property they removed the microwave oven from the breakfast area. So, my wife had to drink cold mocha that she makes since there wasn't any way to heat it. (BTW: making my wife walk back to our guest room, make, heat it in the room microwave, and then walk back

There was no hot water most of the trip. I took a cold shower. The beds and pillows are not comfortable. A patch in the wall of our room, room had a foul food smell, clicking at night. The maintenance guy,Joseph, was amazing! He fixed our hot water. Breakfast was not great, coffee was luke warm No biscuits and gravy not enough of a variety of juices. Not enough pastries. The staff was friendly and listened to our complaints.
