Holiday Inn & Suites Des Moines-Northwest by IHG

Amazing experience! We came to this hotel late at night after a poor experience at a budget hotel in the area. Every step of the way I was met with phenomenal customer service. The room was clean and comfortable, the amenities well maintained, and I will never be able to say enough good things about the desk manager, Theresa. Even at 11pm she was happy to welcome us, gave my kiddo a coloring page, helped us sort out our needs for the night and get settled. This hotel is an excellent choice, and if you get to check in during Theresa’s shift, consider yourself lucky!!

Unfortunately, our experience left us with several concerns related to room comfort & the pet-friendly policy. When we checked in, outdoor temps were in the upper 80s, & our room was at 83°F. The air conditioning didn’t appear to be functioning properly, & we had to switch rooms. Even in the new room, the temperature took quite a while to come down. Because of this, we didn’t feel safe leaving our dog in the room, even though this hotel is advertised as pet friendly. We also learned from the front desk that the in-room air conditioning is motion-sensored & shuts off if no motion is detected for more than five minutes. This was particularly concerning, as we had planned to leave our dog crated in the room that evening & the following morning while we went out for breakfast, but didn’t

We reserved a king room for an overnight stay. Room was on floor 3 facing the back parking area. Room was clean but very stuffy from the air being off. Air worked okay when on but seemed to kick off for long periods of time and the room would get quite warm. There used to be sliding doors or window to the outside but don’t open now. Bed was really comfy and the bathroom was clean and had what we needed. It was nice to have free parking. We didn’t use any of the amenities since our stay was short. Hotel is really easy to access from the interstate and had various restaurants around. Overall our stay was good and we will keep this location in mind in the future.

The staff were amazing, anything they could do they did above and beyond for you. I forgot silverware for my food I had prepped and the lady this morning really hunted one down for me only could find a fork and it was really appreciated. Teresa last night had a man that was not all there they did the best to help him even offering money from there own pocket to help him out so he could get to a safe spot and do laundry it means so much seeing how they were there for him you are amazing!

The lady at the front desk was absolutely amazing. Very friendly and helpful. Teresa was the lady name who helped me. I have stayed at this hotel at least 100 times with in the last year. She has raised the bar for other people who work in a Holiday Inn across the United States. I hope she gets rewarded for her help and support
