Holiday Inn McAllen – Medical Center Area by IHG

We stayed at this hotel during a school trip to McAllen for a competition and had a great experience. The breakfast had a good variety, and the staff was very accommodating by providing it early at 5:00 AM for our group. The rooms were clean, extra towels were provided, and the manager and staff were very friendly and welcoming. We truly appreciated their hospitality.

Stayed there for one night and all the amenities were clean and in some cases better than expected. My room had a window that could open, so that musty stagnant air smell could be removed from the room. Bed was comfy, plenty of ports to charge my devices. Lighting was good, room felt small but layout was good so it wasn’t tight feeling. I did not like that I had to be checked off on a list for breakfast. I understand keeping costs down but having to ask each time I want water or coffee or juice was a bit much. It made the dinning experience uncomfortable with a guy just standing there and staring. Otherwise everything else was great.

Was recognized for being a platinum member and lobby was ok. Went to my room look to set my coat on a chair in the outer area, no chairs just sofa, worse no TV they took it out and no replacement. The coffee maker in the room was broken. 1/3 of paper tissue roll and no extra rolls. Very sad state of affairs. The rooms appeared to be clean and price for room was ok. Scary elevator very rough ride. 1 night fast stay a maybe, longer term absolutely not. Coffee in breakfast room always lukewarm or cold regardless of time, 6:30 or 7:30. Workout room ok 1 treadmill that was broken and scale wasn't working. TV in bedroom constantly lost it's signal and not due to a weather event. |Poorest maintained Holiday inn franchise in many years

Update: the manager did accommodate me so i do appreciate him doing that. Check in and the hotel was HOT i should've know there was an issue then. Took forever to check in because of their system not working. Then I get in my room. And its 77° feels like the heater is full blast and no towels. I go downstairs tell them the ac is not working and no towels so they switch me rooms. I wake up at 4am and its still 77 and like the heater is blasting in my new room. I go downstairs and the new girl informs me the ac is broken and they've been aware about for a day. So the first girl who checked me in knew me changing rooms wouldnt solve my problem. If I wouldve know it'd be so hot I wouldve switched hotels. The towels also had yellow stains and it just made me feel gross and unclean. Oh and dont

Definitely got catfished by the photos on here. It's not same hotel in the Google images, looks like the holiday inn across the highway 🤨. Our room has a never ending, extremely high pitch ringing sound thought I was going crazy until I brought it up with my husband. Room are a bad/strange layout inside like sink right beside entrance room door. Maybe 3-4 inches away from the door nob. Why does a double bed room... have one (1) towel only not even a wash cloth? AC is weirdly cold while humid didn't know that's posible. Our kids didn't have a single complaint they were excited for our family adventure, and exhausted. Plus they're little 4/6 year olds, nothing rains on their parade.
