Holiday Inn Gainesville-University Ctr by IHG

A Holiday Inn has been on this site since I went to school here in the 80s. Even before that. It's had it's ups and downs. Currently, after the renovations it's soaring. The hotel smells and looks new and clean. The rooms are big with clean bathrooms. There's all new furniture in the rooms. The wifi is fast. We couldn't find any streaming service on the TV, but maybe that was us? We were very very happy with our stay. The front desk staff were friendly. The Piesano's restaurant on the ground floor was good. Can't beat the location. We were in town for a basketball game. The distance to The Swamp and O'Connell center is walkable in minutes. I always judge my experience by the people I meet and the comfort I feel. Rarely do I give 10 stars or the highest rating for any hotel experience. However, this property has a warm receptive quality and after you have stayed there a couple of times, they simply become your family. Beautiful rooms, nicely appointed, renovations are excellent and of course the pool deck is awesome. What I also enjoy about this particular Holiday Inn is that Paisano's is right downstairs. Excellent restaurant, excellent food, great service, full bar and the staff is very accommodating. Simply stated I don't necessarily love traveling for business, but this property is hands down number one in Gainesville, Florida.

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn Gainesville–University Center. The hotel is exceptionally well managed, and you can really see the difference in the level of service and overall experience. General Manager Aksas Alouani is outstanding and sets a wonderful tone for the entire property. His leadership clearly reflects in his team, including Amarys, Natasja, and Danley, who were all professional, welcoming, and very attentive throughout our visit. The hotel itself is clean, comfortable, and well maintained, making it one of the top Holiday Inn properties we’ve experienced. We always appreciate the warm hospitality here and look forward to returning again.

Our stay here at this hotel was fantastic. They took our Model United Nations club at school and hosted us very nicely. The rooms and the lobby were very clean and comfortable. The staff were also very polite and friendly to talk too! This hotel also has a very good location, and close to the University of Florida, if you are looking to tour or visit there. Definitely coming again!

When I was a kid, the Holiday Inn wasn't a great brand. It was utilitarian. This is a really nice hotel and the location is impossible to beat. There is an italian place attached to the hotel which is nice and the staff is quite good. Natasja (Natasha with a J) was great, courteous and professional which is always appreciated. Most people at hotels want to help. Natasja was super pleasant to deal with. Hotel stays by schools are almost always driven by availability and price. They're always packed. If you get the Holiday Inn, it really is the best location and it's a good place to recover from your weekend experience in Gainesville.
