Holiday Inn Express & Suites McAlester by IHG

Great room. Very spacious. Breakfast was nice too. Only complaint I had is that for some reason, the bathroom has a small round toilet. It's a little strange, as round toilets are kind of an option you only see nowadays in older homes or tight spaces lol. I'm a big guy so I took notice to that. Other than that, it was a great place.

For several years, we have stayed here at least twice a year. They have a nice breakfast buffet, the staff is friendly and helpful, and three restaurants are in walking distance. On our last trip, the guaranteed free Wi-Fi didn't work, and the room had a funny smell to it. Major disappointment.

After a long day of driving, I stop in and check into my room with my toddler. It was clear that the surfaces weren’t wiped down. It smelled awful like mildew and feet. There was trash left in the bathrooms, I decided to call and ask for a new room. They gave me a room across the hall. I lugged all of our bags and my toddler to the next room, the toilet was disgusting. There were hairs and dried up pee on the toilet seat. I was disgusted. I go down and kindly ask for a CLEAN room. The assistant manager asked me if I was an IHG rewards member to give me extra points for the inconvenience. I’m not worried about points. I want to have a clean place to sleep for the night with my kid. Then they give me a room (3rd room) on a separate floor. I walk in, looks not even to be vacuumed. I mean ther

Called the hotel to book. When we got here they told us they couldn't refund our suite that they gave away because we booked through a 3rd party. Even though we called the hotel directly. Mold in the bathroom, refused to refund because the pool and hot tub was down. Pool and suite were the only reasons we booked this hotel. Will never stay here again. Choose any other hotel or go to air bnb. Don't waste your money. Edit to add, breakfast made the entire family sick. Don't eat the omelets. Wish I would have read the reviews before booking. It's hard to find a quality, affordable hotel these days. We were pleasantly surprised by how clean and comfortable our room was. It didn't stink, no damp carpets and the beds/pillows were actually comfortable! Definitely recommend. Breakfast was like every other hotel breakfast. Still wishing someone would break that mold but for now, hotel eggs, average potatoes and green bananas it is.
