Holiday Inn Express & Suites Birmingham - Inverness 280 by IHG

Beds were super comfy. Breakfast was good. Neighbors were a little loud and the thermostat didn't work. But the front desk was very gracious when I told them about it. Staff was great.

The absolute worst IHG in the chain. Never again will I ever consider booking rooms again. I'll just let my points expire. First we check in, go to our room... the key won't work. Go back down, get a second key, that doesn't work either. Go back down for a third time, get a new key and room this time. That was aggravating, but it is what it is. Finally we get into the new room, the safe is locked. Obviously the previous guest locked it and didnt open it. I called to the front desk, was told they didnt get the safe codes from corporate and I won't be able to use it. I called corporate and was told they dont have codes, the hotel does. I spoke to the front desk again and was told she isn't sure, she Is new, her manager is new... The room itself left a lot to be desired. Not very clean. De

We arrived on Friday for Talladega race weekend. It seemed a little crazy with lots of people that knew the front desk clerk were using the hotel pool. After checking in, we got to our room and shortly afterwards we realized we had water soaking the carpet in the corner near the A/C and desk. We notified the gentleman at the front desk and he said it happens all the time and it would be dry by morning instead of giving us another room. We woke up in the morning with the floor worse and my wife not being a happy camper. The room was not clean either, so we skipped the showers to get on out of the hotel. I loved this stay! The check-in took about 2 minutes and the check-out online was even faster! The room looked and smelled like it was brand new, literally! Everyone that worked there was so friendly and nice, I think they were even happy to work there! A couple places very close to the hotel so we didn't have to go far for quick supper after our event and the next morning we enjoyed the breakfast, everything you could want in breakfast items and a wonderful cup of coffee. We loved visiting Birmingham and the hotel was fantastic!

Positive: Convenient overnight stop on long roadtrip. Nice area of town. However, room very hot/wouldn’t cool down. We did not sleep well at all. Negative: Most of the staff was very friendly. However, I called in advance to ask if the feather pillows could be removed from our room as my husband is allergic to down. I was yelled at/told I should never book a hotel room as they all have feathers/hung up on.
