Holiday Inn Express & Suites Anderson, an IHG Hotel

I had a very disappointing stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Anderson (soccer tournament) The overall cleanliness was far below what I expected. The room did not appear to be properly cleaned before my arrival — there was visible dust on surfaces, debris on the floor, and the bedding did not feel fresh. The bathroom was especially unpleasant, with a strong odor that made it uncomfortable to use. It seemed like the toilet and shower had not been thoroughly sanitized. In addition to the smell, there were stains and buildup around the sink and tub that suggested a lack of regular deep cleaning. Hotel room lacked towels and had missing towel hooks. The front desk staff was nice, but only on the surface. They were huffy about my booking through a third party (TripAdvisor). Andrew (afternoon/evening front desk lead) went on a power trip and kicked my family out of the pool area under the vague reason of “Due to Maintenance” when no maintenance was clearly needed. The elevator felt like it would breakdown at anytime. Finally, the ice vending machine room, on the fourth floor, had flies all over the place. ||This hotel has been a go to on family trips for the over ten years. The heater in my room shut off at night because of an energy saving device. Then when I went to the desk, the lady didn't get up or anything. Just shrugged her shoulders and said I will tell maintenance. I will never stay at this place again. Also the broken gate on the trash area was just blowing and banging around in the wind. You could hear it inside the room.

5 star for a holiday Inn, you ask? It was a last minute idea and hotels are limited that close to 69. Service was ok, the lady running the free breakfast was super nice and went out of her way to make sure everyone was great. The front desk lady in the morning acted like she had a stone stuck in her shoe while she was running a 5k. Seems like she was breathing fire too, or maybe just blowing smoke. I don't know, either way, her personality just sucked.
