Holiday Inn Express & Suites Alexandria - Fort Belvoir by IHG

We had a pleasant 4 night stay at the IHG Alexandria/Ft. Belvoir. Thank you to the hardworking staff. Carla was particularly helpful, but all the front desk staff were excellent. We appreciated the free breakfast with the large English muffins perfect for breakfast sandwich construction. The oranges were also above average. Room was very nice , a few dings and scratches and a small amount of moldy sealant around the tub, but overall in nice condition. Water pressure was outstanding. We used the fridge but not the microwave. Did not see a coffee maker. We slept well as our room was very quiet, we turned off heat as fan was a bit noisy, oddly it stayed warm even (21 degrees outside) with it off. Beyond unacceptable lack of service and staffing. We arrived very late at night after an 8:20 pm NFL game in Baltimore, followed by dropping off friends in Northern Virginia. We found that the front doors were locked without any note about how to contact the staff. We tried calling several times, knocked loudly a number of times, buzzed the buzzer repeatedly, and even called the reservation line to try to get some help. After twenty minutes, it was clear that the hotel staff locked up and left the hotel unattended for the evening and we had no choice but to look for an open gas station and make a three hour drive home. Positive: Clean room, decent bed, and good breakfast options. Location was good too, we walked to the metro station about 3/4 mile away every day and road that into downtown DC. Negative: Room a/c unit was really loud, enough to wake you up at times

We booked through third party website. Still got a good deal. The room was well furnished. Quite a big room compared to the cost. It included microwave, freeze, and all other facilities. They also offered complementary breakfast with good selection of items. Those were delicious as well. They charge for parking and it was $10 per night.

For me to book a whirlpool room and for it to not work is annoying , I’m pregnant and wanted to relax , then the workers are always walking away from the desk to sit down in the back as if they have nothing productive to do, the water in the shower was not even hot there was no hot water at all it’s crazy . There was no manager there on the weekend so the other workers could barely help . There was no maintenance on site. Ice machines on the floor wasn’t working it was a mess . I would not book again only thing comfortable was the bed
