Hilton Garden Inn Portsmouth Downtown

If not for the unresponsive manager, T. Bergeron, this would have been a better rating. I've stayed here a few times and the place looks great after the renovations. The location is great as well. But I had a matter during my stay and was told that the desk could not help and the manager was in a meeting. I had to go, but wrote to the manager's email explaining my issue. No acknowledgement after waiting for weeks. Really poor form and so easy to do correctly if her cared.

I elected to stay here despite the temporary kitchen closure, as I’d been generally pleased with past Hilton Garden Inn stays. I would not stay here again, for three reasons:|1. The TV and its remote control are abominations. It would take too long to explain, but I can't believe Samsung would manufacture something that bad.|2. The HVAC system is fairly loud and thermostat controls are not great. (You can't just set a temperature; you must toggle between Heat and Cool to get it where you want it.)|3. The valet parking is overpriced, and I wouldn't have used it had I seen the parking garage across the street in the darkness.|Otherwise, my room was well equipped and very clean.

Positive: Great location. Nice room with comfy beds. Pool and jacuzzi were nice to use. Friendly, helpful staff. When we went outside to go shopping, a clerk ran outside to lend us umbrellas as it was raining a little. They helped us with my complaints below. Negative: No room clock and binder listing amenities, you need a smart phone to access the time, TV channel list, and everything else. The TV remote is user unfriendly and onscreen program guide doesn't name the channels and what's playing. .

DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON BREAKFAST HERE. Great location, nice staff and clean rooms. I have enjoyed staying here on multiple occasions however I finally ate the breakfast and it was terrible. Like truly awful. I’ve enjoyed free hotel breakfasts so much more and for my family of 4 we ended up paying $62. How crazy is that?! The bread was stale, the bacon was microwaveable, the potatoes were overcooked (I’ve never eaten a potato I didn’t like!) so that was impressively bad. The overall selection was also very pitiful. The service was superb but the actual food was hardly palatable.

This was disappointing. Website says breakfast included. There is no breakfast.I stayed for two days paid full price for both days and the second day my room was not cleaned nor was my bed made. I was told that hiltons don’t make your bed everyday any more. I came here for a respite and needed to be cared for and was very disappointed my room not cleaned nor was price less for second day since they are not providing that service. Their tv sucks the remotes is so confusing that you can’t get to channels or see guid of shows on screen. Limited shows. Would not stay here again
