Hilton Garden Inn Overland Park

Check in was rough. The computers were down, so they did their best. I am particularl, so I noticed a couple of hairs in the shower and that was gross to me. I was mostly unsatisfied that the water in the shower was tepid at best. I told the manager via text and for no response. The staff was pleasant in person. My kid liked the pool. Overall this place is less than mediocre.

Great place to stay. Other than the bed being too firm and pillows not firm enough, all in all we had a great stay. Very clean in the room and in the hallways, lobby, etc.

I was dumbfounded by the rudeness of the front kitchen staff member. I have gluten intolerance and of course the hotel does not have GF breads. So as a traveler and Hilton honors member I pack some. I asked to use the toaster and the person running breakfast told me I couldn’t and blocked me from using. Really!? I’ve never encountered this in my many stays with Hilton.

We checked in online but didn’t arrive until around 1 AM. The man working behind the counter was very friendly. The renovations are likely finished by now, but they were still ongoing during our summer stay. The parking lot was quite empty, so the stay itself was very peaceful. The rooms were clean. Aside from the pillows being very flat, it was otherwise an uneventful stay.

This is a Hilton and there are at least a few expectations. The suite was fine, the bar ok, and the staff meh. The problem is there was no hot or even warm water. We were on the top floor and told that it can take 10-15 min for the hot water to “travel” all the way to us there. When I told them that we had waited, they said that they were fully booked and during peak times we probably wouldn’t get hot water in the 4th floor. Seems like a very low bar to meet. We will not be staying here again. There should be a disclaimer… “we only provide hot showers if we aren’t fully booked and only during non-peak hours.”
