Hilton Garden Inn Albany Medical Center

As a Hilton Honors Diamond member I enjoy staying at different properties within the Hilton portfolio when I visit a particular city. In Albany I've been to them all, so this was a re-visit to a place I had been to before. Overall it was a decent stay.||This hotel, while in a medical district, is a bit off the beaten track to downtown. Since I arrive and depart by Amtrak, the need for Uber anyhow made this location a moot point.||Pre check-in the day before via the app, as well as room selection, went well. Upon arrival I found the front desk staff to be cordial and helpful. ||My room was certainly amply sized, plenty of room for belongings. Bathroom had ample counter space. My husband had complicated surgery at Albany Medical last week. I stayed here while he was recovering. From the moment I met Luke at the front desk, he made me feel cared for, and not so alone. I spent time by the fireplace, watched Luke talk to customers, he is so kind and caring. Most everyone that stays here has a loved one at Albany Medical. All the staff here are kind and caring, it takes a special person to work here. Luke, thank you for your kind heart!!

I chose this place because it was closest to the empire plaza were we had to take exams. I've always been a hilton fan, but not here. We were greeted right away and welcome with two bottles of water and chips. I felt special and was happy with the room. The service is great and so is the room. But the issues I had was there was no plunger in the room. I asked a maid if she had one and I don't think she spoke or really understood English which is ok but got testy when I looked at her cart for one. How embarrassing it is for an employee to have to come and plundge your toilet after burrito night. The next two big things where parking for a night with a large car was $30 and limited space. This hotel is connected to the medical center. The parking garage provides coverage from the outside weather. There are corridors directly into the hospital. The parking rates are lower than 10 dollars a day depending on the type of visitor you are. I felt safe parking there. The hotel is lovely. There is a restaurant for breakfast and a bar and restaurant for evening dining. My room was spacious and the view beautiful.
