Hilton Albany

I stayed at the Hilton Albany in February and honestly, this place feels more like a glorified skyscraper motel than a Hilton. The rooms look very outdated. The bathroom in particular looked like it was barely hanging on. It definitely does not feel like it has been renovated in a long time. For a downtown hotel with the Hilton name, I expected much better upkeep. The biggest issue was the hot water. It took about 40 minutes for the shower to get warm. Not hot. Just warm. When we called the front desk, we were told this is “normal.” That is absolutely not normal for any hotel, let alone a Hilton. I also paid to park in the garage, which turned out to be pointless. When exiting, the gates just opened automatically anyway. So I paid for parking that apparently anyone could use on the way

I have a booking coming up and saw something on my reservation I wished to change. I called the hotel and spoke with Tina. She was just excellent, so friendly, calm, and happy to help me. Before I have even arrived at the hotel I am already happy and pleased with the service. Tina is an outstanding representative for the Hilton. Thank you Tina for your help!

We stayed here for a weekend to attend a local wedding and we appreciated the convenient location, friendly staff, comfortable bed, and beautiful city views. Unfortunately the hotel is older and showing signs of deferred maintenance, specifically the heating system. Despite numerous efforts on our part to get the heating working, our room had no heat for our entire weekend stay and did get quite chilly. Hotel staff tried and failed on 2 occasions to fix it and were not able to give us another room because they were at capacity.

Positive: location, shuttle available, staff was very helpful Negative: restaurant was not in service during dinner hours, after we started drinking. engineer had to come to room to reset the TV, said it happens a lot. Hotel was on a hill coming from the Empire State Rail Trail.

Stayed for business. Breakfast is not included. Breakfast buffet is $23+tax+tip. Not budget friendly. There is a fresh omelette bar, and most of the food items were good. Breakfast staff were extremely pleasant. Room is comfortable, some of the furnishings are dinged, but bed is so comfy and amazing! Toiletries provided smell so nice. Housekeeping is done daily, which is also very good. I have an issue with the lack of common areas for guests. The area that looks like a seating area is actually a restaurant, the whole lobby at night is a restaurant. The rude waitress gruffly said as I put a takeout bag on a table to sit “you’re not eating that here” loudly announcing there is no where to sit without needing to buy something from the hotel.
