Hampton Inn & Suites Birmingham East Irondale

This is a tough review to write because nearly everything about my stay was perfect. That staff was super friendly and helpful, the room was immaculate, good location, good price. But guys - you HAVE to do something about the showers in the guest rooms. Based on the other reviews I'm reading, I wasn't the only one with an old, beat up shower in an otherwise perfect room. It was simply unseemly for any hotel, much less a Hilton brand. Even just re-coating the tile with epoxy would be a cheap and easy way to make your guests much more comfortable. Please consider modernizing your showers immediately as they are holding your hotel back from 5-star reviews.

Positive: Every staff member we encountered was lovely. Excellent service. Negative: Our room was old, barren, and in desperate need of renovation. No hot water in the morning. It was serviceable for our purposes but if we needed to stay more than one night we would have moved.

We always stay at Hampton Inns due to their normally clean and updated conditions. However, this one was far below the standards. The hallway has a terrible smell, like a combination of urine and smoke. Our room smells better, but, is very dated. The carpet has multiple stains and cigarette burns. The mattress sinks to the center. There is no nightstand beside the bed, so, had to set my phone (with alarm) on the floor. Bathroom has mold in the shower and floor tile grout. Went to take a shower and there was no hot water....although we discovered it did get hot after running it for literally 15 minutes. The room was warm when we walked in...we like it cool so we turned the AC to 66 degrees, but, it was still warm the next morning. It was blowing air but was not cold air. We were

Cassandra at the front desk provided some of the best customer service I have ever received from a hotel! The maid I met in the elevator (Vivian, I think) was also very friendly. Great customer service! Room was good. The bathroom door did stick a bit against a towel rack, which I would simply suggest removing, but otherwise, everything was fine!

Brittney sucks. Asked if she would patch me up to my husband hotel room to wake him for work, seeing as his phone was dead. She said she couldn't give out that information, seeing as she didn't have to even give me the room number but just forward the call to his room. Makes me feel like she is lazy as hell, just doing the bare minimal, no solutions to anything. Which sucks as my husband will be there every week for work and I recommended the place because we were there with our two kids prior to this week. But after her shift and night swift there are older ladies and they are the best, especially at night, the lady that always called me beautiful. She is amazing. Deserves a raise, she brought snacks up to my room shortly after we arrived for my children. She was an absolute delight. H
