Very nice hotel. Modern rooms with walk-in glass enclosed showers. Beautiful ambient lighting in hallways and guest rooms. Crisp linens and very well maintained rooms. Convenient valet parking services. Off-season rates are a steal for this type top tier accommodation. Sorry. I should have taken pictures but you will not be disappointed. It's in the middle of everything at the Newport waterfront.
We’ve been to Newport numerous times over past 20 years and this is one of our best stays! The Hammets offers great amenities despite room size, it’s very well accommodated with great use of the space with drawers and cubbies. Beds are very comfortable and probably only time in a hotel that I didn’t wake up with a stiff neck because of the pillows. Gym was adequately equipped w/a nice view, the free coffee and tea were a welcomed touch. Everyone from the front desk to housekeeping were pleasant and eager to make our experience outstanding. Special shoutout to Arlene at front desk, not only does she greet you with a welcoming smile but she’s a great photographer! Looking forward to our next stay!
I travel to Newport A LOT! My first time at the Hammett. Great location. Very clean room. Staff super super friendly. But can't get over there is no frig and coffee maker in the room! (Even Hotel 6 has a coffee maker and frig) I had to throw out some really good leftovers from a great dinner. No iron board either. No hotel store to buy anything like chips, Advil, etc. Most lobbies have a frig you can grab a can of beer or soda and charge to your room. Have to travel to get those kind of items. No muffins or anythin in the morning available either. For the price you would think these things would be part of the stay/available.
Booked this room with my 13 yr old son and the bed was not long enough for him. Not sure what his bed was called but definitely not a twin. The larger bed that I was in had a “hole” on one side that made sleeping difficult. Facility was clean and otherwise found the room comfort. It didn’t have a desk but the bridge had a nice area to work.
The room was suitable and the location is great, but overall the space felt very sterile and lacked some of the amenities that help a guest feel comfortable during a stay. One thing I did appreciate was the reusable glass water carafe in the room and the water refill station available to guests. It was a thoughtful touch and something more hotels should consider. That said, I was disappointed to discover that both the shampoo and conditioner in my shower were completely empty. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize until I was already in the shower, so I had to make do with body wash for everything. For the price of the room, that kind of basic oversight was frustrating. Overall, the stay was fine, but a few more comfort touches (a refrigerator and coffee maker) and better attention to room ch
