Grand Royal Hotel O'Hare - Chicago

My flight was delayed, so Air Canada offered me this hotel for the night. After booking, I checked the reviews and honestly got a little worried because most of them were pretty bad. But my actual experience was much better than expected. The whole process was very smooth. After I called, the driver picked me up quickly and also provided a ride back to the airport early the next morning for my flight. Everything was well organized and efficient. The front desk staff were kind and helpful. The room was obviously not a luxury or 5-star hotel, but it was decent, clean, and totally fine for the price and purpose. If you’re worried because of the reviews, don’t be. It’s really not as bad as people make it seem, and for a short stay due to a delayed flight, it did the job just fine.

If I could give a negative I would. First of all there is no sign outside of the hotel indicating the hotel name and it literally looked abandoned - pitch black. The lobby heat was broken literal ice bricks in there. Our room had blood by the tub drain, black mold, and blood stains on the bed. Curtains were literally shredded. Pepperoni crumbs on the bed. The worker who was nice, didn’t even question why we demanded a refund all he said was oh ok sorry about that. We’re thankful we’re in the process of a refund but if I were the worker I’d be asking why we wanted a refund. it’s almost like they’re used to people leaving? This hotel is the sketchiest hotel I’ve ever seen, weird people staying and you can hear everyone’s conversation the walls are paper thin. I would never feel comfortable o

I was a bit worried when staying here based on the reviews, but I was very pleasantly surprised! When pulling in I noticed the building looked quite fancy with the glass atrium from the outside since it used to be a Holiday Inn. The lady at the front desk was very kind to me and had no issues with me checking in 2 hours early. There is also free parking! The room itself was great as well! Everything was very clean, the room includes a Keurig and a microwave, and the shower was nice was well.. The location felt safe, was convenient off of I-90, had several food options nearby and I believe there was an airport shuttle running 19 hours a day as well. In general, I don’t have any complaints! For $70 I am very satisfied with my experience and I will stay here again when I come back to the Chic

Worst experience ever. Their WiFi is not available in room 207. The connection was limited to Lobby. No one answers the phone. I tried calling from the airport almost 10 times for shuttle service and no one answered. I called again when I was near the lobby and they dint pick up even though it was ringing. When I go and ask thy say we were busy and could not answer phone. The lady at concierge was playing a game on phone when I rang the phone from near the lobby. Ridiculous hotel and no accountability at all. The breakfast was packaged food The in-room phone service was not working. The AC was loud and does not heat or cool the room as required.

We were put up here by American after a delayed flight. The American agent thought we were getting the Holiday Inn O'Hare. The phone number provided got me to the front desk who indicated they were the Holiday Inn. A mini van running once an hour was their "shuttle" The van had a sign on the side window stating Holiday Inn. This motel is NOT a Holiday Inn and is 6 miles from the airport. The place is run down and dirty. The A/C in our room was very loud and did not work well. There was no breakfast. I would not stay here again.
