Great place to pull off and let the kids have some fun. Have him bring their swimming suits and there are places to change. There are a mix of stairs and paved areas that are accessible by wheelchair. You can also go down to the beach and if you cross at about 3 ft of depth you can get over to agate Beach and search for agates in the beach rocks. You could easily pack your lunch and make a half a day out of this state park.

Fourteen years ago, when we first made Minnesota our home, we were cautioned against visiting Gooseberry Falls, as it was perceived to be a magnet for tourists and crowds. This warning has proven to be well-founded, as our excursions to the North Shore consistently involve a brief sojourn. This is my third time coming to Gooseberry Falls. And it has yet to disappoint. Per usual it’s a great tourist attraction so plan for parking delays. Little trek to get to the falls. But beautiful nature awaits you. If you have time to hike up towards the upper falls the trails are just as beautiful.

Beautiful location to visit at any season. Be careful near the water, looks can be deceiving. Spring thaw brings massive, thunderous, and fast moving water which makes the falls even more amazing. During the summer you can enjoy the trails and explore the park. Fall is the best, and in my opinion, the busiest time of year.

A beautiful falls trail. This is an easy trail to walk/hike. But in winter, it maybe a bit hard because of the ice slippery.
