Geneva On The Lake

We had a wonderful NYE dinner, with night stay. Everything was perfect: food was incredible, service was top (big big big shoutout to their wonderful wine expert…). Location is wonderful. Townhouse we stayed in was ok, although nothing too fancy: bit on the older side. But it fit with the overall vibes well!

The website suggests a high-end experience, and, unfortunately, the stay you actually have is average, at best. Booked a deluxe suite for 2 nights, thinking that it would have a sitting area, or anything other than sitting in the bed. The room we received had a king bed, one chair (so low to the ground, my five foot frame had issues getting out of it), and a full (dated) kitchen. The fireplace was not functional, and had a sign that said the chimney was removed for safety reasons. The bed was comfortable, and the view was lovely, but the windows did not open. ||We ate dinner at the restaurant and were terribly underwhelmed by the New York strips we ordered. We recently stayed at Geneva on the Lake for the Thanksgiving package, which included the room, dinner, breakfast, early check-in, and late check-out—all for $400. We booked the Whirlpool Suite, which typically costs $450 per night on its own, so the overall value of the package made the stay worthwhile. However, had we paid full price for the suite, we would have been very disappointed. At first glance, the room appeared very nice, with a separate living room, kitchen, and whirlpool room. I understand the home was built in the early 1900s and last updated in the 1980s, but it’s long overdue for another renovation, especially at this price point. It was a very nice experience. The ambiance was beautiful. The entrée was very small amount of food to charge $90 for a few slices of turkey. The steak was practically raw when asked for medium Well for my child. My family was up from n.y.c and it honestly left them hungry still. Overall it was a so so experience

Disappointed! We think this place has seen better days. It’s a lovely area (we’ve been to the finger lakes 3 times over 5 years), and I think this place was probably in its prime some years back. Nothing was bad, but also nothing was impressive. The rooms were old, the hotel grounds looked dated, the food was all over the place (some under seasoned, some over seasoned). The pool is not much of a pool, there is no real hotel lobby. Nothing was gross or dirty, but had the feel of old and perhaps a bit neglected. The room exteriors were covered in cobwebs. The hotel grounds were mowed, but had the feel it was not meant to be walked on, just didn’t feel as welcoming up close as it does from a distance. Even the lake view is just ok.
