Gauthiers Saranac Lake Inn

This is a HORRIBLE place! We booked a three night stay over Columbus Day weekend. We were assigned room 41. I was supposed to be lakefront. It was a bottom floor, obscured view out the front door lake room. The room was dirty. The tub had black mold and the bottom of it was dirty. The room had neither been dusted or cleaned. There was no phone, clock or luggage rack and no place to hang anything. When we checked in the desk phone was dirty and that should have beena warning. On the website, the good reviews posted are 2010 to 2013, nothing recently, and no wonder. The beds were made but we didn't even bother to unpack. Put the luggage back in the car.Desk clerk was leaving and ignored us. Called the after hours number and was told no remedy was available. Left and drove back home (3 hour

We arrived and the temp was -7. There was noone in the office, sign on the door to call and someone could help. Called the number, told us we are in room 36 and it was unlocked you could just go in. Went in to check out the room. Cute rooms, right on the lake only problem was the room was so cold the memory foam gel mattress was hard as a sheet of plywood. Called the # back. He said noone is on sight to help. Offered us another room. I asked for a refund. The mattress would take forever to unthaw. He said I had to call hotels.com for a refund as they hadn't received payment yet. Called hotels.com and they had to wait to here back from someone from gauthiers to issue my refund. Gauthiers was not wanting to give me a refund at all. Avoid the hassle if coming up in the winter. Don't stay here

I've stayed at several other White Rainbow properties in the Adirondacks and had only positive experiences, so I was surprised at the discrepancy between this facility and the others. Pros: shower water pressure, view from back porch Cons: no towels in the room (I was instructed to go to the laundry room and get them myself) no rug in the room (which led to many puddles in snowy weather), hair on multiple bathroom surfaces, no working Wifi, no working TV, thin walls, deadbolt didn't lock all the way, no staff present on-site, not enough space in parking lot (especially during the winter with snow piles present), refrigerator completely froze the liquids I stored in it overnight

This place has potential. Great location on the water, but that’s where the positives end. As soon as I opened the door, a thick, mold/musty smell smacked me in the face. Had to open both windows (windows only went up a few inches), but better than nothing. Bed was horribly uncomfortable. Everything was just tired. Broken sink door, 2 blown lightbulbs above sink, heating/AC unit FILTHY…see photos. Will not be back, and certainly would never recommend.

The bathroom was dirty, with black mold in the tub and a dirty tub floor. The room had not been cleaned or dusted though the beds were made. The room had no phone, clock or luggage rack. I saw nowhere to hang anything. At check in, noticed the lobby phone was dirty and that should have been a clue. Desk clerk as abrupt and unhelpful and left shortly after we checked in. The room curtains would not stay closed. We did not even unpack but left and retuned home (a 3 hour drive). Note that all the positive reviews are from 2010 to 2013. Nothing recently. Whatever this inn was, it is a shadow of its former self. Will definitely n
