This iconic sign is at a roadside turnout along the Gardner/Gardiner River. You’ll find it on the North Entrance road (Highway 89), roughly halfway between the North Entrance at Gardiner, Montana, and Mammoth Hot Springs. If you walk about half a mile upstream from this spot, you’ll reach the Boiling River, where hot spring water flows into the cold Gardner River, creating a popular natural soaking spot.
we were threatened at close range by an ANGRY male grizzly on the small ridge just above Gardner river campground, we were trapped for hours between the grizzly and the forest, luckily it did not attack, do not come here in small numbers, make noise
