For several years I camped at Dalton Lake Camp Ground . The price use to be $18. I haven’t camped up there in 2 years now because the price is $21.50 per night . I’m sorry but that price is absolutely ridiculous! There is no water no power and no sewer!
Wanted to relax on a Memorial Day weekend with family. This company decides the perfect time to mow is in the middle of the day. Then one of their employees decides Memorial Day is the perfect time to harass 3 Veterans about Day use passes even though they already have them. He continued to harass other people throughout the area. The Forest Service needs to reconsider their contract.
My experience at Cook Lake was worsened by interacting with these people. Not just once. USFS - if you have a choice, please look to find a different vendor. Why do these people not have web page? Why does their Facebook page not work? Why does Black Hills and Badlands say these people operate over 30 USFS campsites, yet all links point to 'page cannot be found' dead links? I ask these questions because I'm trying to find out a little more about them before calling their office to resolve issues.
We recently had THE WORST experience with this organization, with a person that was the supervisor of the Camp Host at Pactola Reservoir above Hill City when we visited recently. This guy is a mega-controlling manic with an ridiculous HOT temper, lack of tact and common sense, and basically ran us (63 and 65 year old senior citizens) out of the campground at 8:30 p.m. by storming into our camp and threatening to call the sheriff on us to remove us from the property. We had an 11 day PAID reservation! There were some issues around the original campsite we were assigned by recreation.gov (another outfit to TOTALLY avoid) but instead of being reasonable and working with us, this guy immediately went to threatening us with the sheriff. NEVER, EVER frequent Pactola Reservoir or ANY property
I'm trying to figure this out. Are they a scam? Do they have any real authority? Does neither a national forest pass or state park pass qualify? We paid a day use fee but it seemed like it was just some old lady peddling cars for cash. I'd never heard of them before and their presence makes no sense.
