Alpine Inn

Went for lunch and, as usual, it was delicious and filling. It is the last day they are open for the Season and they were very busy. I recommend this place, although it seems that I really don't need to, since it is already so well known! I had the smoked pork chop plate and my husband had a hamburger. Both meals were excellent. We had a really good waitress and a very pleasant experience.

I’m really surprised at some negative reviews about the Alpine Inn. It’s not fine dining, it’s fun dining. The food is very good. The atmosphere is wonderful, and the waitresses and people who run it care about their product. It is a must stop for my wife and I when we are camping in the Black Hills or when we are passing through in route to see grandkids. Our daughter and son-in-law live in Fort Collins, and absolutely love the Alpine Inn when we meet them camping. It is their favorite place to eat supper. And that includes a lot of restaurants in Fort Collins. It’s just a fun place to eat, a consistent product, and an atmosphere that is festive and fun if you want a $100. fillet go to Ruth’s Chris, if you want a reasonable fillet at a great salad and dinner come here.

This place was hyped as some of the best food in the Black Hills so it was pretty disappointing to see only two items on the dinner menu when we walked in. It was even more disappointing when the staff were rude and unpleasant and treated us like a nuisance. The food was just mediocre, nothing to write home about. I guess if you want the feeling of dining in an old Bavarian inn then this is the place, but I honestly don’t understand what anyone sees in this place, would not recommend it to anyone.

We love coming here at night for filet mignon and for lunch for German food. You can’t go wrong with any of the desserts. They are all amazing. The staff all seem to love their jobs and are very friendly.

We often come to Hill City for vacation and came this time we came during the off season. Our favorite restaurant was closed for the season so we thought why not try the Alpine Inn Restaurant for supper as we often see lines out the door during the summer. Am I missing something?? The food was okay, nothing to write home about. There were only two options and my “salad” was a hunk of lettuce drowning in ranch dressing. Maybe people come for the desserts.
