Deer Haven

such a cool combination of the Badlands classic rock formations and a small forest area. The peak of the climb (which isn’t that high but there are some tough, sheer faces you might need to navigate) gives you a 360 view of the park and was amazing. Saw the sunset and sunrise from there. Saw two bighorns during sunset and it was incredible

The trail was a good hike, mostly flat until you get to the Deer Haven ridge which is a little more difficult to navigate up. However it's a beautiful view! I would caution to bring plenty of water and be aware of the possible heat.

Hard to find Got lost trying multiple approaches through the canyons Could see Deer Haven but never made it. Some suggest going south and past the badlands as the correct route We went straight west into the north western canyon (dead end) and middle canyon (dead end) and gave up after that

Desolate and quiet with life breaking through wherever it can. Otherworldly, especially at night, and unforgettable. Definitely worth the hike, but you'll need a pack and water to make it happen.
