Courtyard by Marriott Wilmington Downtown

It’s an okay hotel. The rooms were eh. I will say they were clean but nothing special. You could hear everything from the rooms besides and above as well as all the traffic. The beds were stiff but I was able to sleep a little. The staff were fantastic though. Very kind and very accommodating.

This was by far the worst hotel experience I have had. We stayed in the hotel for a soccer tournament in room 909. When we entered the the room we were missing a trash can, a blow dryer, the tv remote and coffee cups. The coffee packets were already open and the smoke detector was hanging off the wall by a wire. I called the front desk and asked for it to be serviced but it took three calls for someone to deliver the items and the room was never serviced. To complicate things, when we returned from dinner that evening, we could not get into our room. Assuming it was an issue with the key cards we went to the front desk and requested new keys which also did not work. After, the facilities manager came to the door he stated "this happens periodically" and used a hammer to "unjam" the

Extremely Disappointing Stay Our experience at this hotel was unacceptable from the moment we arrived. We were transferred here from a partner property due to an issue and were told it would be an “equal” move. It was anything but. Check‑In Experience: When I arrived at 9 PM, the front door was locked, and there was no staff member in sight. I waited more than 20 minutes in the cold until another guest happened to let me in. Only after that did a staff member eventually appear. This alone set the tone for the lack of oversight throughout the stay. Rates & Fees: I was charged $169 instead of the original $159, and unlike the original hotel, this one charges $20 per day for parking. I would not recommend this hotel. Parking requires using a garage and then walking around the building outside, which was extremely uncomfortable in freezing temperatures. The first room we were given had visible poop stains in the toilet and the AC was not working… We requested a room change, but when we arrived at the new room, the keypad system was not charged, so we had to go back downstairs and wait for a front desk staff member to come upstairs to let us in. In the second room, the bathroom door handle literally came off the door in one pull, and there were dirty linens left throughout the hallway on the third floor, which is unacceptable from a cleanliness and safety standpoint. Positive: "" Negative: My room stunk like some awful air freshener that smelled like a cheap, flowery perfume. After an hour my nose and eyes were irritated. I asked to check a different room, and it stunk too so I realized it was their products.
