Courtyard by Marriott Waldorf

I always try to be very transparent in my reviews, but I must say this was one of the worst experiences I have had with the Marriott brand. The front desk staff were unprofessional and are in need of retraining. I made a request before check-in, and the young lady who answered the phone said she would see if it could be honored even though it was submitted in advance. It was simply for extra pillows. When I arrived, I was not greeted and had to wait until the two staff members finished their personal conversation before being checked in. I also requested Mobile Key check-in, and she told me she was unable to do it. I am familiar with Marriott and know it can be done, but she still denied the request and handed me two physical keys. I called 6 times prior to arrival and could not get through, even after reaching out to sales, reservations and catering. Phone service in the room was sporadic. This is the third Marriott property I've visited in the last two months with the same phone issues. This problem NEEDS TO BE FIXED. In addition, had to remind staff twice for the extra items I ordered prior to arrival. Since I couldnt reach them via the room or my personal phone, I had to get dressed and go to the front desk. Never received half of the items.

THE GOOD: even though I made a last minute reservation that morning, I was able to check-in early; front desk staff was great; convenient location near tons of restaurants; felt very safe with ample parking; nicely maintained lobby; rooms were spacious and clean; bed and sofa was comfortable. THE NOT SO GOOD: my bathroom only got lukewarm water in the shower; TV would weirdly flicker only when it was titled towards the bed area; one small area where paint was slightly chipped. OVERALL: I'd stay here again if ever in the area.

Positive: The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and very comfortable. Negative: I did not like the fact that you are charged incidental fees daily and free breakfast was not included.

It’s hard to really say there’s anything positive about this hotel. The staff is very friendly and that’s the one saving grace. The bistro isn’t open. Most of the buttons on my tv remote doesn’t work and when I called to the front desk, they said they didn’t have any techs to fix it. The heater doesn’t run reliably so the room stays cold. The outlets by the bed don’t hold cables. The wardrobe blocks the tv. There’s no hand soap in the bathrooms.
