Courtyard by Marriott Alexandria Old Town/Southwest

Upon arrival, staff was very dismissive and rude. They are very short staffed and for a three star hotel I expected better. It’s ridiculous that they only serve breakfast and dinner and it took forever just to get our meals. They ran out of food halfway through dinner and there wasn’t even that many people in the bistro. No room service? ‘The Market’ is overpriced and doesn’t substitute lunch. Really wished that food options were better and the overall bistro service was better. Hospitality is not favorable. Location was a near a highway so the view wasn’t the best. The shampoo and conditioner and body wash were half empty when we got into the room. Rooms had a bit of a smell to them and overall atmosphere could have been more welcoming and friendly. Do better.

Basic accommodations, clean but lacking attention such as empty body wash and shampoo dispensers in the shower. No in room safes, so take your valuables with you. Very tight parking spaces. Very expensive food at the restaurant. Fight in the hallway of the 6th floor at 4am then housekeeping banging on doors at 6am meant little sleep. More attention to the guest experience would make this place better.

I was greeted with a smile and pleasant conversation by the night receptionist. Explained where dining and fitness center was and there times of operation. Offered refreshments and snack from the mini bistro. My room was clean and welcoming neither the best view of the city from a high floor. The bed was so soft and comfortable along with the ability to control the temperature of the room. It was just steps to the ice machine and there was a mini refrigerator for cold storage of drinks and food. From the moment I entered the hotel lobby I felt welcomed and safe. The decor was gorgeous. Finally, the rate was exceptional,?especially a members rate.

The hotel is located a short distance from major highways. It is also within walking distance from some stores and restaurants. The lobby area is pretty and comfortable. The rooms are clean. The views from the rooms can be amazing. There are refrigerators in the rooms but no microwaves. Our room was large but the furniture was awkwardly placed and it was unsettling. There is a guest laundry and a small but well appointed fitness room. There is a parking fee of $15 per day.

A fine establishment. Closer to DC would be ideal, also not by a highway. I prefer buffet breakfast, more classy. Overall a good experience. Take this review heavily because it comes from me, someone of very high caliber.
