Our stay at Country Inn & Suites by Radisson in Springfield, IL was a wonderful and comfortable experience. The rooms were clean, cozy, and well-maintained, providing a relaxing space after a day of exploring. The service was good throughout staff were friendly, attentive, and ensured we had everything we needed. We stayed here based on reviews of cleanliness. There were several other hotels, but all were in the same price range ($150), so we chose this one. We had to forcefully open our door because it was stuck, then had to do the same to close it. And continued to do this every time we left the room. Upon entering our room, we were overwhelmed with an odd smell. The bed sheets had stains when we turned them down. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting. The floors were filthy. My feet stuck to them. I actually had to put a towel down on the floor because of the filth on the floor. The wall of the shower had soap chunks on it and visible mold in the caulk. I had a VERY odd experience this morning (11-26-2025) checking out from this hotel which ended in being threatened by the person behind the counter threatening to call the police on me.||My credit card had showed two $50 charges in addition to the temporary hold for incidentals on three rooms I had booked. I asked the person behind the desk if they knew what they were for, and they mistakenly said it was for incidentals and would be removed. I explained that those charges had already been removed (3 x $157.82 had already been reduced to 3 x 107.82), and there were two other $50 charges. They insisted that these were for incidentals and would be removed. They called the manager and confirmed this would be removed. Point proven, I would recommend any other hotel that doesn't take advantage of people in situations of distress. My wife and our two dogs were traveling in the midst of a significant winter storm in the area on November 29th and needed somewhere to safely stop at for the night. We decided to book our reservation five minutes before our arrival at the country inn as it was the first hotel we found after driving for 10+ hours. I booked a room two queen size bed for a one night stay checked in on 10/17/25 to check out on 10/18/25. I and my family came in town for a funeral. The room that we were given the phone was not working, the tv cable also were not working and the wall unit for temperature control was not working and on top of that there were a big bug crawling on the wall. I called the front desk and the manager was helpful to give us another room in which that room lights were not working and he was apologizing and I feel he was sincere as he was surprised at another room had issues.
