Catalina Motel

I remember back when I was 20 years old traveling through Lexington by Greyhound the bus I was on missed my connecting bus and the next bus was not to leave until the next morning. The Greyhound terminal was not open 24 hours, so I could not stay there overnight. I tried to book a room here to have a safe place to stay as I was traveling by myself. The clerk refused to rent me a room as I was under 21, despite me being in the military. I should him my military ID and he still refused to rent me a room. Thankfully a kind couple overheard me complaining to the gas station clerk at the gas station next to this motel and rented me a room at another place nearby. If they didn't, I am not sure what would have happened to me.

I had stopped off from a road trip one evening and was just looking for somewhere cheap to lay my head. Great location, surrounded by everything you could possibly want. Unfortunately I wasn't very happy with the atmosphere. The people that frequent the place were very less than reputable looking. I did some research online and found out some things about the type of offenders that take up residence there. I wont be going back and I certainly wont be taking a child around there. I have seen online old pictures of the place. In its day it was a beautiful place. Cant really say that now. I have a picture of the place from long ago, but it sure doesn't look like this now.

This definitely the place to go to for a short stay in the day, usually a lunchtime place to welcome friends 🧡

As far as the room...sure it's a little dated but our room was very clean and the young gentleman at the desk was very polite and helpful. Asked for a downstairs room and due to wife's health and he even discounted it since it was a double. I haven't seen anything that looks like what some of the reviews were talking about. For the price...I will be staying for a few days while my wife has her surgery.

I stayed there several times when I was travelling a lot back in 2009-2011. Of course any traveler should be cautious. The owners were down to earth. Just don't put on airs since you're probably not royalty, eh? They'll treat you right.
