Carpenter Street Hotel

Ideally situated, only a short stroll from Springfield's downtown. They allowed us to check in early with our small baby, and everyone was really friendly during our one-night stay while we were in the neighborhood. There is complimentary breakfast, and the rooms are tidy. The 11am check-out time is fantastic as well, since it's not as early as at other locations we've stayed at. Parking is also free in the lot. Overall, excellent location and a nice stay!

If you need a hotel, a basic, inexpensive hotel, this might fit your bill. Lobby was clean, are for breakfast was very small, had concerns with parking, didn’t hang any issues or see any. It did snow the night we were there. Rooms are very dated, towels are bleached to their last threads, almost transparent when gotten wet.

Wonderful stay. Stayed for two nights. Friendly helpful staff, very clean rooms, very clean outside, quiet at night, good shower pressure. While it is across the street from a major medical center with helicopters landing about 5 times a day, you barely hear anything. Located near the SIU campus and three block away from Lincoln’s home. Truly an unexpected gems of hotels. Extremely well priced for a larger city. It might appear as it is near a scratchy side of town, I never felt unsafe.

Great location, just a walk from Springfield downtown. We stayed here for one night while in the area, and everyone was super nice and they even let us check in early with our little guy. Rooms were clean, and there's free breakfast. Checkout time is 11am which is great too, as it's not as early as other places we've stayed at. Free parking in the lot too. Overall, great stay and great location!
