Carpenter Hotel

I have not stayed at any other hotels in Austin, but after staying at the Carpenter Hotel, I would not want to stay anywhere else. If we visit Austin again in the future, I would plan to return to the Carpenter. The location is ideal, the room was cozy, the customer service was warm, the housekeeping team was strong, and the restaurant was excellent. (We had the good fortune of staying for a week during New Year celebrations, and the NYE dinner was beyond excellent -- I was delighted that the restaurant offered a fantastic prix fixe dinner that night.) The hotel took care of us really well especially during the blizzard. The rooms had great insulation and were quiet. The rooms were spacious with concrete floors (so maybe ask for slippers?). The attached coffee shop is a great place to work or to get a cup, while the restaurant is a great place to unwind or to eat properly. The bed was reasonably comfortable as well. The closet situation is a little weird (fully open).

Stayed here for a “staycation” weekend and had a nice time. The rooms are pretty standard and small but everything is redone / new (especially the bathrooms). The room also has a nice patio. Everything was very intentionally done and clear to use (I.e. the board outlining all the amenities). The overall grounds are really nice with a pool, coffee shop, and a place to eat. We loved the plant aesthetic! The service was great too and when we told them about a small issue in our room, they not only corrected it quickly but also comped a night of parking. Would stay here again, plus the location is great!

Great hotel. Modern, clean, but with a lot of character. There is a great restaurant on site, along with with a separate cafe for genuine barista coffee and breakfast.

Overall I had a nice stay. Property was beautiful and vibey, staff was friendly, great location walkable to the trail and Zilker park. Couple issues that seem fixable for the future: - Was disappointed by the lack of any substantial vegan-friendly food options on the premises. Only menu items at the restaurant were crudite and side potatoes (not a meal). Most places of this caliber/price-point at least offer a veggie patty substitution, or have 1 meaningfully designed vegan hot entree. I went for breakfast and ordered the avocado toast, which comes with eggs and cheese. I asked if I could sub those out for potatoes to fill out the meal a bit, which they happily did. But they still charged me full price for the avo toast as if I'd gotten eggs + full price for a side of potatoes. That wit
