Candlewood Suites Fredericksburg by IHG

Place is a disaster. The room paid for was not reserved and we had to be downsized significantly to a room that smelled of cigarettes and had cockroaches. We left and would not be refunded. Recommend bringing your own pillow, if you're into that sort of thing. Two stars bc they have decent soap, a working elevator, and a gym.

Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by the staff, who were friendly and accommodating throughout my stay. The check-in process was smooth, and I appreciated the cleanliness and well-maintained appearance of the lobby and common areas. The suite itself was spacious and well-equipped with everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The kitchenette was a fantastic addition, allowing me to prepare my own meals and save on dining costs. I also found the bed to be incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night’s sleep. One of the highlights was the hotel’s amenities. The fitness center was well-equipped, and the free laundry facilities came in handy during my trip. I also enjoyed the cozy atmosphere of the outdoor space, perfect for relaxing after a busy day. Overall, I had a wonderful stay

I stayed in Room 314 and was immediately hit with strong odors of pet urine, cigarette smoke, and what appeared to be black mold. The room clearly had poor cleaning and maintenance, which made it very unpleasant and concerning for health reasons. To make matters worse, I noticed cockroaches in the room, which is absolutely unacceptable for any hotel. This hotel’s hygiene standards are completely unacceptable, and I would not recommend staying here. Management needs to urgently address these serious cleanliness and safety issues. Thankful enough Holiday Inn was right down the street.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. However the roaches were terrible. When brought to attention we were told they would spray. Did not happen. We had to leave to another hotel due to no hot water for days with just a simple “I’m sorry”. The stench from weed smoke was throughout the hotel. Hotel seemed to be falling apart from poor maintenance with ripped wrinkled carpet and patched walls. Would not go back to this hotel. Hard to believe IHG allows this as other hotels are in better shape.

Believe the latest reviews. I checked in and turned on the light and the roaches scattered everywhere. This is what was left after the scatter. I immediately went down stairs where I was told I had to wait for the next shift, and return, to have a refund processed for my security deposit and prepayment... they did give me a piece of paper with a cancelation request, but that was all of the service offered. the couple in front of me had the same issue. Avoid this one.
