Birchwood Motel

Positive: It was all good. Negative: We never saw the manager. We had to phone the manager and get the key from the mailbox. Unusual.

Very run-down rooms. Clean, but that is about it. It appears as though this place has not been taken care of. Some of the wallpaper is water damaged, electrical sockets broken, toilet is stained, the door isn't sealed (you can see outside through the lower gap when it is shut), the walls are black, the washer/dryer have been out of service for some time from the looks of it... I would have paid $20 more a night to feel more comfortable. When I return to Chincoteague, I will be staying somewhere else next time. **Update following my stay** It was awful. I will not be recommending to anyone to stay at the Birchwood Motel unless they want to pay money to get bed bugs on top of everything else in disrepair. I should honestly be refunded for my entire stay. This is completely unacceptable to

My husband and I came here to get away from our young kids (leaving them at the beach house with a sitter) for the afternoon. Our room was clean and pleasant for the price, all facilities worked. Well worth $100 for a last-minute break, a nap, and our first sand-free showers in a week!

The hotel is right on a 750 ft pier. Staff and management accommodated me and my family at the last minute on a Friday night with joining rooms for my kids and I for a great price and with access to a pool. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay.

Rooms were okay for the price. The A/C worked, but was not running so our room was warm upon check in. Comforter on the bed was thin. Bath towels were threadbare in spots. Floors, while clean, did have nails protruding from the transition strips. Check in/check out procedure could have been better. Actually dealing with a representative face to face would have been preferable to calls/video chats. It's not a very secure process. Don't think we'd stay here again.
