Big Sur Lodge

The lodge is inside the Pheiffer big sur state park. The fee covers the entrance fee of three nearby parks which are Andrew Molera, Pheiffer Big Sur and Julia Pheiffer burns state parks, with the exception of the Pheiffer beach which charges an additional $15 per vehicle by the park. The room we chose has a living room with one double bed and one sofa bed, and a separate bedroom with a double bed. A deck is attached to the lodge, providing a great experience of stargazing. The Wi-Fi reception was poor in the room and the tech guys were in the process of upgrading the equipment. If we ever have a chance to revisit the big sur area, we would consider this lodge again but would definitely book much in advance instead of a last minute booking. Overall, we all enjoyed the stay!

Our double fireplace room had so many issues: 1) the fireplace caused the room to be filled with smoke, unless you opened up the door or windows wide, negating the warmth and coziness of the fireplace 2) broken blinds 3) mold in the shower and bathroom sink 4) extremely uncomfortable/old mattresses 5) black smoke marks covering the front of the fireplace up the wall all the way onto the ceiling 6) hole in the bathroom door, marks and scuffs on the walls. Overall the room itself felt worse than a motel six and very neglected, although the location is beautiful and parking was easy. That said, it's just not worth the high price tag for the neglected quality of the room.

Great location at the start of many hiking trails. Room was in need of renovation. Fridge was not very clean.Nice restaurant, coffee bar and convenience store at the reception centre.

Honestly our stay was disappointing.  The staff at the front desk did nothing to greet us when we came in and they seemed burdened by us every time we came up to the desk.  Our room was ready late and the front desk manager (female, not sure her name) was in the back area chatting with the rangers the whole time instead of helping us or helping the line move. I pre-ordered a smores kit - which never came.  I had to, yet again, go burden the front desk personnel for a smores kit. I requested an additional bundle of firewood each day for my room, which never came.  They did, however, remember to charge me for extra firewood each day. I suggest you do not book here or cancel while you can. Our first interaction with the lodge was through attempts to contact them prior to confirm they were open because of epic rain and winter storms in the area. When we arrived, the staff at the desk were very unhelpful, asked immediately for payment in full and briskly sent us on our way to find our cabin. The cabin: We left this lodge early because we felt like we had been scammed. Our room was not at all like the pictures. It smelled like mold, carpet was stained, and bathroom was filthy. There was no heat so we had to use the filthy blankets to keep warm. The coffee maker was a kettle and coffee in teabags. The staff: The staff did not know anything about hikes in the park including trail conditions. They had no suggestions for r
