Deetjen's Big Sur Inn

I stumbled upon this awesome breakfast location while camping along hwy 1. The smell of freshly cooked bacon drew my attention. Upon entry, I literally stepped into Narnia! The atmosphere, aroma and decor shifted my mind instantly. I was seated beside a small fireplace and served by the honorable Katie 😃 😊. I had the 2 egg breakfast with house potatoes. Just like the atmosphere, my breakfast was simply enchanted ✨️. I shall certainly return with haste! (Thank you to the wonderful operational team.)

Deetjen's did a good job of describing the accommodations. As they said, it's rustic, the rooms have no wifi or cell service, no TVs or radios and the doors don't have keys. The rooms are clean, have electricity and running water. It was more rustic than we prefer. I was looking for a more affordable option than nicer places, but for $350 a night, I don't think we'll stay here again. We could get a very nice room in Carmel and drive 30 min to visit Big Sur.

Go here if you want to true unplug. A day trip isn’t worth it imo, I would come back again for 3+ nights to truly unplug form the world.. but I’d need to be rich and bring a lamp! The landscaping is absolutely beautiful and whoever is in charge of it needs a raise. WOW!!! The decor and “vibe” of the place is super cute. The restaurants food was very good! We did breakfast- make sure to get a reservation for dinner! Not a whole lot of access to walk around- you will need a vehicle to do anything other than go to the on site restaurant. The rooms are DARK DARK DARK!! Think candle lit.. I think this is the vibe they are going for. This make it hard to get dressed. Someone with vision impairment would likely be totally blind in these rooms.. even in certain parts during the daytime. There

By far one my my favorite breakfast spots, dare I say restaurants. The people are amazing, the service is great and if you have the pleasure of reserving the family room for your party of 6+, I am sure you will enjoy it!

We have stayed here many times before but this time our ages have caught up with us. Rooms are dark bathroom small and we could hear the people above us.None of this EVER bothered us before! Breakfast at restaurant in the morning outstanding. Location awesome!
